Time Alone Can’t
"Time heals all wounds" could not be farther from the truth. If you've been disappointed, hurt by a loved one's action or inaction, words or silence, you know full well that ticks on the clock or pages from the calendar do not bring healing.
⏳ If you're waiting until they apologize before you forgive them, time won't help you here.
⏳ If you are waiting until you feel like it before you obey the commands of the Lord, time won't help you here.
⏳ If you're waiting until your life is more in order before you fully commit to walking in the Lord's ways, time won't help you here.
⏳ If you are waiting until they fully understand how they hurt you before you leave their offenses at the foot of the cross, time won't help you here.
⏳ If you are waiting for things to settle down before you yield your pain to the Lord, time won't help you here.
⏳ If you are waiting until you’re not triggered anymore, time won't help you here.
⏳ If you are waiting for a calmer season to tend to your own heartache, time won't help you here.
⏳ If you are waiting for them to make you feel better, time won't help you here.
The only way time can help alleviate our pain is when it is coupled with our trust and obedience in the Lord. Remaining in pain for prolonged amounts of time will not bring healing. A biblical perspective on time includes the dynamic and non-stationary patterns of life in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.
Remember the wisdom in Ephesians 5:16, where we are reminded we should be “making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” Participate in your healing by walking with the Lord, being faithful to His commands, steadfast in Christ, and focusing on the truth in His Word.
